PANEL TO IMPLEMENT MARIKANA RECOMMENDATIONS
TO BE NAMED
The Minister of Police Nathi Nhleko is expected to formally introduce a panel of experts, that will be tasked with implementing recommendations of the Marikana Commission.
Officials called for the panel's establishment after examining events leading to the killing of 44 people in Marikana in 2012.
Most of the people who died where miners shot down by police.
The panel will include senior officers from the police's legal department, and independent policing experts.
It’s expected to review best practices for public order policing.
