SOUTH AFRICA Parliament to consider disciplining Zuma: President Jacob Zuma may face disciplinary action in Parliament, according to the EFF. The EFF said on Wednesday that it had received confirmation from Speaker of Parliament, Baleka Mbete that Parliament will consider taking disciplinary action against Jacob Zuma. EFF Chief Whip, Floyd Shivambu wrote to Mbete demanding a disciplinary action against Zuma following the Constitutional Court judgment that he violated the constitution. National Assembly Speaker Mbete met party leaders behind closed doors to discuss the implications of the Nkandla ruling. The DA's Mmusi Maimane, Cope's Willie Madisha and the IFP's Narend Singh were among those in attendance. ANC Chief Whip Jackson Mthembu was also present. “The EFF, through its Chief Whip’s Office in Parliament, has received confirmation from the Speaker of Parliament, Baleka Mbete, that Parliament will consider taking a disciplinary action against Jacob Zuma. In response, the Speaker of Parliament has responded that the matter will be given due consideration, including at the multiparty meeting she has requested today,” the EFF said in a statement. Calls for Zuma to step down have been mounting within and outside the ruling party. Last week opposition parties called on Mbete to recuse herself while a motion to impeach the president was debated.
